Maximilian Roßmann is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). His current research focuses on how citizen narratives shape the perception of the European energy crisis. He specializes in combining qualitative and quantitative methods with advanced computational techniques. Max’s work bridges social sciences, communication, theory and innovative data-driven approaches to better understand the social dynamics influencing energy discourse, innovation, and technology hypes.
Before joining VU Amsterdam, Maximilian Roßmann was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Maastricht University in the ERC project “NanoBubbles,” studying when, where, and why science fails to correct itself. He obtained his PhD at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with a thesis on the joint use of models and narratives to assess new and emergent technologies (NEST), contributing to the field of transformative Vision Assessment. He worked in very interdisciplinary Technology Assessment projects on microalgae nutrition, 3D printing, and nuclear waste management aiming for social and political impact at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS).
